Norwegian machine for cutting homegrown tobacco (1940s)
Description (English)
This home-made tobacco cutter was made during World War II for cutting home-grown tobacco. During the war there were strict restrictions on everyday goods, and people’s creativity was expressed through home-made inventions and production. The cutter is made of recycled iron and wood, probably from inventor’s private storage in the back garden. The object was given to the museum in 1953, once consumer society was re-established.
