Description (English)
President of the Republic, Oscar Camona, visited the Canal do Tejo in 1936.
In 1880, the Alviela aqueduct, which supplied water from the Alviela river to Lisbon, was finished. In 1935, engineer Duarte pacheco started the renovation and improvements of the Alviela and Tagus aqueducts, commissioned by the Portuguese government. In 1936 the president visited the renovation works, which indicated the ongoing importance of these aqueducts.
