Letter from CIAM to Stalin, May 4, 1932
Description (English)
The heads of the CIAM organization believed it most natural to turn to those in power directly with their concerns. This letter to Stalin voiced the architects' criticism over the decision to build the Palace of the Soviets in a rather traditional way (reminiscent of a Berlin department store as an attached collage stated). The CIAM's threat not to organize a congress in Moscow hardly touched Stalin. The letter endangered the position of Western architects in the Soviet Union considerably.
